![]() Health from a Gender Perspective
Biological and social differences between men and women influence the onset, diagnosis and treatment of certain diseases. Women may present different or less recognized symptoms for the same pathology, which can lead to delays in diagnosis or treatment, as in the case of myocardial infarction or diabetes. The representation of women in clinical trials also has an influence, which can lead to lower effectiveness in treatments adapted to their needs. It is necessary to integrate the gender perspective into health care in order to achieve greater equity and equality in the health of the entire population.
