In the field of tourism, it is the driving force behind the transformation of a model that has evolved from promotion to strategic planning and the need to manage flows with a view to contributing to decentralization and deseasonalization, adaptation to climate change, preservation of natural and cultural heritage, and redistribution of the wealth it generates. These objectives are pursued under the three dimensions of sustainability: social, environmental, and economic. The commitment to sustainable tourism goes beyond compliance with international agendas; it is a commitment to improving public policies, a commitment by destinations to ensure a positive legacy for their environment, and a boost to business competitiveness by the private sector, which is also aware of its key role in achieving a respectful, rigorous, and committed tourism model. The aim of the round table is to provide a space for public-private reflection on the challenges and opportunities for improving tourism sustainability in order to boost competitiveness and highlight successful experiences in this area. |
