Mobility Building the Mediterranean Future of Mobility, the Next Normal
The urban mobility landscape was undergoing fundamental transformations with the emergence of Mobility 4.0 driven by four distinct game-changers: autonomous, connected, shared and electric mobility. Then came COVID-19!
COVID-19 has disrupted every aspect of our lives, with significant impact on the global economy, consumer behaviour, supply chains, and indeed urban mobility. The public transport sector will play an important role in getting both our economies and people moving again. By embracing digitalisation, innovative and sustainable solutions towards mobility challenges, the public transport sector is at the core of the global transition towards a “new normal”, while ensuring the contribution to a cleaner and safer post-pandemic world.
The Mediterranean and Africa likewise is taking up this transformation in its stride. The region is certainly leading the way in innovation on many public transport fronts. From harnessing new technologies to operate electric buses and emergency fleets during lockdowns, this is a critical time for public transport in the region.
